Personal Note

The experience of screen printing for me was very pleasant. It was the perfect balance of fun and learning. I got familiar with this concept after coming to Srishti but never thought I would get the chance to explore it. I thought of screen printing as boring and tedious. I’m glad I was wrong about it. We got familiar with various different techniques and explored the process. Our main focus of the class was to explore as much as possible and not to be too bothered about the outcome or to think of it as something that we will be judged upon. I guess this is what made my experience of screen printing so pleasant. In the process of exploring the techniques, I explored myself. I got to know which technique I liked the most and which not so much. Being from a non-art background, I never got the opportunity to play with colours and express on a sheet of paper. The fact that I finally explored it and liked it, makes me feel content. Through the process of screen printing, I learned to be patient. The actual printing doesn’t really take much time, it’s the process of making screens, coating it and then exposing them that is time taking. The process of making screens made me realize the importance of working in a group, making the screens wouldn’t be possible without the help of others. After completing this studio, I feel more confident with my work and will use this to make future prints. One thing that I already have in mind is the packaging that I wanted to do for the elective studio but couldn’t do. Apart from that, it can be used in postcards, posters,

t-shirts and other prints. I feel creating artworks through screen printing will enhance the quality of the work as it becomes more personal and thoughtful.
